Hey dolls! If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you would know that last week Friday I took a trip down to Stratford-Upon-Avon to attend the Gemini Woman ss15 Press day which was showcasing one of Gemini's brands; Sandwich Clothing. Stratford-Upon-Avon is only a train ride away from Birmingham's city center so after a short train journey and a little walk I arrived at the Arden Hotel where the event was being held. I was greeted by the lovely Gemini team and one of the girls Holly introduced the team to me as well as told me a bit about the brand and collection whilst I helped myself to the refreshments on offer.
Holly explained that Sandwich clothing was an innovative brand with a unique approach to materials, colours and designs and that this innovation has earned the brand Drapers Magazine title of 'Best selling contemporary womenswear brand' for two years running. She explained that the design philosophy behind the brand was the idea that fashion should be worn in the everyday and to showcase individuality and uniqueness, each piece had intricate and surprising twists referred to as 'the Sandwich twist'. These unique details include ruched stitching, asymmetrical hems as well as tailored tweaks.
The Sandwich ss15 collection showcased a down to earth and authentic style and the pieces within the collection were inspired by the desire to collect which we saw from the set up of the accessories table as well as the inspiration board that was put together to help with gaining a better unerstanding of the collection.
The ss15 collection was dominated predominantly by the colour blue in easy breathable fabrics which are perfect for the warmer months. The style of the garments was also very easy with flowy and loose silhouttes that make you want to book a holiday. There was also a selection of light knits for the nippy British spring/summer as well as cool monochromatic and geometric prints ranging from simple stripes to more intricate jacquard and tapestry style prints which I absolutely loved. There was also some pieces in warmer colours like burnt orange and warm pinks and for an injection of freshness the collection also included some pastel shades which are bang on trend for ss15. My personal favourites from the collection were the washed denim pieces which I think are so great for the summer and so easy to dress up and down. I mean everyone needs denim in their wardrobe whether it be in the form of a cute shift dress or a pair of tight skinnies right?
Apart from great clothing pieces, the collection also included some great accessories which included shopper and beach bags, sunglasses, necklaces and bracelets. My favourite accessories were the sunglasses which came in a variety of shapes encased in cute pastel coloured cases. I had my eye on a particular round shaped pair which I could totally see myself rocking this coming spring/summer.
The Gemini team also arranged for a YSL make-up artist to come in to show us a few products from YSL's upcoming collection as well as to explain to us some ss15 make-up trends to look out for. There was a variety of products on show and we got to test a few out and my favourite of the bunch were the warming oil based lip glosses which changed colour according to different skin tones. I also loved the lip and cheek stains which came in cool nail varnish like bottles which was just the cutest touch ever! We were also told about a few new products that were yet to be launched and I kid you not, if you are a fan of YSL make-up you are in for a serious treat!
Once all we had examined the clothes and accessories and had learned more about the brand, we were lucky enough to get a visit form Claire, the owner and creator of Gemini and it was so lovely to chat to her and learn more about Gemini Woman and all it's brands. We also got to try on some pieces from the collection and I was so excited to try out the long Jacquard coat which I thought was so chic and would be such a statement piece to have in your wardrobe for ss15. We also got to put outfits together on 2D models on a Velcro board which I thought was so cool as it helped to show how versatile the pieces from the collection were and how easily they could be mixed and matched to create great outfits.
All in all the event was a resounding success and not only did I get to learn more about a cool new brand but I also got to meet some lovely bloggers and interact and network with them. The entire vibe of the event was so laid back but informative and had the right balance of blogger interaction and brand focus. Thank you so much to Claire, Holly and the rest of the Gemini Woman team for putting together such a fab event and for being ever so hospitable. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you're interested in knowing more about Gemini Woman, Sandwich clothing or any more of Gemini's brands make sure you keep up to date by following on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and by visiting the Gemini Woman website regularly. Come back soon!
