Packing For A Weekend Staycation With Kipling Global

07/07/2017

So it's the summer time and the timelines are getting flooded with pictures of blue skies and seas from all over the world. Everyone is on holiday and it's all looking very glamorous but the reality is that not everyone will be lucky enough have a holiday abroad this year for whatever reason. It could be that your work won't allow you to, your schedule is jam packed or it could be a money thing which by the way is nothing to be ashamed of. Well fear not because this post is for those of you who need a break but can't venture too far out. This is for all you staycationers out there.

I love a good staycation and me and my boyfriend make it a point to have one at least every couple of months whether it be locally here in Birmingham or a bit further out. We've visited a few places over the past couple of years from Liverpool to Sheffield to just down the road in Worcester. For us it never gets old. We just love visiting new places that are not too far out but far enough to make us feel like we're getting a proper break from our day-to-day lives. As you can imagine all this staycationing has made me somewhat of a pro on what to pack because let's face it packing for any trip can be a headache. If you're not quite "levels" like I am don't fret because I'm going to give you a list of my top 5 things to take on a weekend staycation.

Top 5 Things To Take On A Weekend Staycation

A sturdy travel bag or case

The first item goes without saying; it is essential to have a sturdy bag or case to put all your belongings in. This could be a backpack or a cabin size case if you haven't quite mastered the art of travelling light. I prefer the latter because I could take my kitchen sink if I could. Better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it; that's what I say! This is why my bag of choice is the *Kipling super hybrid cabin size wheeled luggage. For me it's the most practical bag for whether I'm travelling far or near. It has ample storage arranged in various compartments to keep everything nice, neat and separated. It also has four spinner wheels and an extendable handle which make it easy to lug around and super convenient for public transport. I also love that it is completely lightweight. It has a solid back for sturdiness but with a soft fabric front to help it withstand the internal pressure of a slightly over packed case. It's absolutely everything I need in a travel case and more and it comes in a nice sleek black colour which matches the colour of my heart -just kidding lol. It's also available in a lovely grey colour if black isn't your thing. I'd seriously recommend investing in this case if you're on the market for some new luggage. It is a little pricey but honestly, it's totally worth it. If a case is not what you need altogether then fret not because Kipling have a huge range of bags and luggage to suit all needs so definitely check them out.

Comfortable Shoes

The second item which is a must for me is a comfortable pair of shoes. Let's face it; travelling is stressful enough no matter how far or near you're going and who needs the added stress of shoes rubbing you raw or the pain of high heels. I always love to have a comfortable pair of trainers on and if I absolutely have to I'll have on a pair of heels. I just make sure the heel is quite low and chunky for maximum comfort. A comfortable pair of shoes is also perfect if you love to explore once you reach your destination like I do. You can always have a snazzier, higher or more impractical pair of footwear tucked away in your luggage for later but definitely have your comfy shoes to hand.

Evening Outfit

An evening outfit is another thing I always take with me on a weekend staycation. This is the case even when nothing has been planned prior because it's best to always be prepared. I won't lie most nights we decide to just stay in and order a Deliveroo or room service but for the nights when we fancy popping out into the town for food and drinks I always have something evening appropriate to hand. I usually opt for a dress or a jumpsuit because one pieces are easy but if I'm travelling light (which is hardly ever) I opt for a nice top and some denim or tailored bottoms because that way I can work the separates into more outfits . Nifty little trick there that every girl should use when travelling.

Pamper Items

A weekend staycation is the perfect opportunity to have some much needed R&R so it's always advisable to have some pamper items at hand. I love to take some luxurious bath and shower products for those moments when I can actually spend more than 10 minutes in the bathroom and I also love to pack a face mask. Other pamper items that I love to bring along on a staycation are nail varnishes and my little nail kit. If you know me then you know that I hardly ever have my nails painted because I NEVER HAVE TIME! However, when I'm on a staycation I like to take a few minutes to tend to my claws and make them look a whole lot more presentable. So whatever your pamper item of choice is make sure you throw it in the bag and bring it along on your staycation. You deserve it!

Laptop

last but certainly not least is my laptop. I bring it along because it fits perfectly into my Kipling case and I don't have to worry about having to have a separate bag. I use it to get on with some work, catch up on emails and the like if I have a moment but mostly to catch up on all my favourite shows and basically Netflix and chill. At times I don't even touch it depending on whether we have a jam packed day but as I said earlier it's better to have and not need than to need and not have.

If technology is not your thing or you're after more of a digital detox on your staycation then definitely use that laptop space in your bag for a book or two instead. I'm not much of a reader I must confess but if my laptop is not with me then I'll probably have a couple of magazines on me to keep me busy.
