MUSTARD

16/05/2017

We had a little bit of sun this weekend and I was totally inspired to bring this mustard number out. I mean nothing says summer like a colourful dress and a cheeky bevy in a beer garden. As you can see I was all for the cause and decided to seize the moment while I could. I'm aware that yellow is a massive trend this season. I spent a few months avoiding it like the plague but I saw this dress and instantly gave in. Full sleeves, ruffled hem, tassels and off the shoulder; I mean who could resist this sassy little number? I sure couldn't and I decided to go bold with the yellow even though there was a black and khaki version available. FYI I have no regrets.

The dress is from Missguided for all enquiring minds out there and as mentioned it comes it comes in two additional colours if yellow isn't for you. I must say, I haven't shopped on the Missguided website in a long while. Their quality is be a bit hit and miss sometimes but after a lack of inspiration with my usual shopping destinations I had a cheeky browse through their new in section. It was not long before I discovered this beaut which is great quality may I add. It's super feminine while still staying true to the bohemian and effortless feel; the type of dress that fills you with confidence when you walk. I was certainly feeling myself when I wore this dress and unashamedly so. It kind of reminds me of the yellow dress in Beyonce's Lemonade and if mustard is good enough for Bey then it's good enough for me. All I need now is a baseball bat and I'm ready (jokes).

As you can see I decided to forego the baseball bat and decided to go with some sunnies and heels instead for accessories. The sunnies are from Stella & Dot and I love how their tortoise shell print went so well with the dress. A true match made in heaven. The shoe's you've no doubt seen before on this blog many times but they're a fail safe for me. They're minimal, high and sexy and are just what this dress needed to elevate and bring the whole look together. I must say the dress is a little on the short side but if you're a shortie like me you'll be fine. If you happen to have the gift of height however, I suggest sticking some cycling shorts underneath to cover your modesty or maybe try pairing the dress with some jeans and a choker for the "dress over jeans" trend that is taking over the magazines and internet. I love this dress if you haven't gathered that already from all my gushing and I just thought I'd share it with you guys. What do you guys think? Yay or nay to the mustard?
