5 Easy Steps To Becoming A Blogger

10/10/2016

If I had a pound for every time someone asked me "How do I start a blog?" "How do I become a blogger?"  I'd be extremely rich! It is hands down my most frequently asked question I get and today I thought I'd give you 5 easy steps to starting your very own blog.

5 easy steps to becoming a blogger

1. Just do it

You have no idea how many months I toyed with the idea of starting a blog and how many times I started and stopped a blog before As Told By Tashpantz was birthed. I always used to doubt myself and somehow I talked myself out of blogging on numerous occasions but one of my tips is just frigging do it! Think about what you want to talk about, find a platform to share it on and just start sharing your thoughts.

Don't get too caught up in waiting until everything is perfect before you start. If I did that then I wouldn't be blogging right now because trust me there's no such thing as perfect. What really matters is making a start and then developing and improving from there. Kind of like learning on the job which is how I've tackled this whole blogging thing with help from various resources around me like the internet and other fellow bloggers.

2. Blog your passion

If you want people to engage and connect with you, you have to blog about something you're passionate about. Not only will people feel your passion behind your posts but they'll connect with it and keep coming back for more. I tried the whole beauty blogging thing and seriously I was bored shitless with my own posts and it showed because they were the posts my audience engaged with the least.

Beauty is just not my thing; I mean I like to look good and all and I buy and wear makeup and I'm into my skincare but not enough that I can sit down and write a whole post about a mascara or the latest makeup collection. Fashion on the other hand I can write about for days and weeks on end because I absolutely love it! I just love putting outfits together and inspiring you guys with my looks and it seems like you connect with that the most and that's why I keep that content coming.

So my second tip is find what your passion is and share that with the world. It doesn't matter if it's the latest blush or this season's hottest boot trend; if you love it, blog it!

3. Be yourself

Being an avid blog reader myself I have learnt that not only do you buy into the persons content but you also connect with the person behind the blog through their personality. That is why it's extremely important to always be yourself. Have your own style, deliver things your own way and don't shy away from bringing those aspects of yourself that can be weird and quirky on to your blog because believe me that's what will set you apart from that other blogger. Especially with blogging becoming so saturated and full of clones. Besides when you're always yourself it's much easier to maintain your blog and keep a consistent tone throughout.

4. Consistency is key

May sound like a cliche but consistency is key! A very major key! The internet is fickle and one day you're here and the next you're gone so always try and keep your presence known and felt by putting out great regular content on your blog and your social media.

Another aspect of consistency that is ignored by a lot of bloggers; myself included is being consistent with engaging with other bloggers and influencers. If you read and comment regularly on other people's blogs and posts, you'll get the same back. It's really not rocket science.

5. Self promotion

My last tip is to share the hell out of your content. I mean you've just worked your ass off and produced all this great content so it would be a shame not to share it with the world right?

Tweet it, Instagram it, share it on your Facebook and with all your friends and family. And don't be shy about sharing it a few times a day but at the same time be careful not to spam your followers. There's a very thin line between sharing and spamming so share just enough that you're not annoying your followers.

I was a bit shy about this when I first started blogging but now I've realised that it's one of the most important things I need to do to get my connect seen. If you're busy and forget to share your content I'd suggest using an app like Buffer where you can schedule tweets and Instagram posts in advance. Trust me sharing and self promotion will help you grow your blog audience so don't neglect to do it!

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post and I hope I've given you some pointers on how to start your very own blog if you've been struggling with how to get started. And if you've just started out I hope this helps with some tips on how to keep it going.

I obviously couldn't leave without sharing an outfit as per my usual Monday programming so I thought I'd share this awesome culotte jumpsuit from PLB. Not only is it in this season's hottest colour trend but it's the perfect jumpsuit for a night out this autumn season.

I kept the styling simple with some barely there heels but I could definitely see this styled with some patent ankle boots and a leather jacket for a cool and edgy vibe. How would you style this gorgeous jumpsuit? Talk soon x
